Strings

All our lives, it’s nothing but
Strings
Someone’s always
Yanking our strings
And
Stringing us along
Until we’re
All strung out
Even if we manage to
Thread the needle
Remember, there will be
Strings attached
Strings may
Tie our shoes
They also
Tie our hands
And tie us down
But they never
Tie our tongues
Or form
Knots in our throats
When we wish they would, leaving us
Bound
To say something stupid
Torn heart strings
Tie our stomachs in knots
Our careers are destroyed by
Unsavory ties
And half of those that
Tie the Knot
Wish they’d
Given themselves enough rope
Left over, to
String themselves up
So don’t those
Ties that bind
Really just keep us in bondage?
